Blood Tests | Lab

Lab in Pasadena, TX: blood count, glucose, cholesterol, thyroid, kidney, liver and urine tests, drawn without an appointment and explained in Spanish.

A blood test shows what symptoms take months to reveal: high sugar, cholesterol, a slow thyroid, anemia or an infection. At Clínica Hispana Corazón y Vida in Pasadena we draw the sample without an appointment and explain the result in Spanish, with the price known before the draw.

Which tests do we run?

  • Complete blood count: anemia, infections and platelets.
  • Blood chemistry: glucose, creatinine and kidney function, liver enzymes, electrolytes.
  • Lipid profile: total cholesterol, LDL, HDL and triglycerides.
  • Hemoglobin A1c for diabetes control.
  • Thyroid (TSH and T4), vitamin B12 and vitamin D.
  • PSA for the prostate.
  • Urinalysis and urine culture.
  • Pregnancy, sexually transmitted infection and tuberculosis (IGRA) tests.
  • Panels for work, school, immigration and DOT exams.

If you need a test not on the list, ask: many are sent to a reference laboratory from the clinic.

Do I have to come fasting?

For fasting glucose, yes: 8 to 12 hours, water only. For the lipid profile fasting is preferred, although your provider may order it without it. A1c, thyroid, blood count, PSA and infection tests do not require it. Take your medications as usual and tell us which ones you use.

When should I get tested?

  • Yearly checkup, even if you feel well.
  • Every three to six months if you have diabetes, high blood pressure or cholesterol.
  • Persistent fatigue, thirst, unexplained weight changes, fever that does not go away or repeated infections.
  • Before starting hormone treatment, an IV vitamin drip or a weight plan.
  • When a work, school or immigration process requires it.

What is the visit like?

  1. At the front desk you tell us which tests you need or the reason; if you are not sure, the provider chooses them with you.
  2. The blood or urine sample is taken at the clinic.
  3. We tell you the turnaround for each test: many basic ones are processed here and are ready quickly; those sent to an outside lab take a bit longer.
  4. We review the result with you and, if something is out of range, treatment or follow-up is defined.

How do I read my result?

The report shows your value next to the reference range. An out-of-range value is not a diagnosis by itself: it is interpreted with your symptoms and history, and repeated when needed. Read our lab testing guide for the most consulted values.

How much does it cost?

Each test has a direct price, no insurance, in cash or by card. Ask on WhatsApp at (346) 646-2974 for the cost of the test or panel you need. We also serve patients without medical insurance.
