Allergy Testing & Treatment

Allergy care in Pasadena, TX: rhinitis, congestion, hives and itching. We identify triggers, treat symptoms and guide you on testing. Walk in.

In southeast Houston, pollen, humidity and mold keep allergies active almost all year. Sneezing, congestion, watery eyes or hives that come and go can be treated. At Clínica Hispana Corazón y Vida in Pasadena we evaluate what triggers them and get them under control, in Spanish and without an appointment.

What does allergy care include?

  • Evaluation of symptoms, when they appear and what makes them worse.
  • Examination of nose, throat, ears, lungs and skin.
  • Treatment of allergic rhinitis: antihistamines, nasal sprays and saline rinses.
  • Care for hives (urticaria) and itchy dermatitis.
  • Management of allergies that trigger cough or wheezing, with a check for asthma.
  • Guidance on allergy testing and referral to a specialist when needed.
  • A plan to reduce exposure at home and at work.

Which triggers are most common in Pasadena?

  • Tree pollen in spring, grass pollen in summer and ragweed in fall.
  • Dust mites and mold, favored by humidity.
  • Pet dander and cockroaches.
  • Foods, medications or stings in allergies with hives.

A simple diary of symptoms and places helps identify them at the visit.

What is the treatment like?

Avoiding the trigger is combined with medication according to the symptom: non-drowsy antihistamines for sneezing and itching, a steroid nasal spray for persistent congestion, eye drops and, for the skin, creams and antihistamines. When symptoms last all year or do not respond, referral for skin testing or immunotherapy is considered.

When is it an emergency?

Swelling of the lips or tongue, trouble breathing, dizziness or hives spreading fast after a food, medication or sting may be anaphylaxis. Call 911 or go to the emergency room right away; if you have an epinephrine auto-injector, use it.

What is the visit like?

  1. Consultation about symptoms, seasons and exposures.
  2. Physical exam.
  3. Initial treatment the same day and written instructions.
  4. Follow-up in two to four weeks to adjust.

What can I do at home?

Keep windows closed on high-pollen days, run the air conditioning with a clean filter, wash bedding in hot water every week, control humidity to curb mold, and shower after coming in from outside during the season. These changes reduce the amount of medication you need.

How much does it cost?

The visit has a direct price, no insurance, in cash or by card. Confirm on WhatsApp at (346) 646-2974.

Frequently Asked Questions

We evaluate symptoms and triggers at the visit and treat common allergies. When specific skin or blood tests are needed, we tell you and refer you to a specialist.

An allergy causes no fever, lasts weeks, worsens in certain seasons or places and usually brings itchy nose and eyes. A cold lasts a few days and may come with fever and malaise.

Second-generation antihistamines can be used daily during the season, as directed by the provider. If you need them all year, the plan should be reviewed and a nasal spray or testing considered.
