Ultrasound & Sonography

Ultrasound in Pasadena, TX: abdominal, pelvic, pregnancy, thyroid and soft tissue, painless and radiation-free, with the result explained in Spanish.

Ultrasound shows organs, vessels and tissues in real time using sound waves, with no radiation or pain. At Clínica Hispana Corazón y Vida in Pasadena we perform it in the same visit the provider orders it, and explain what is seen in Spanish, without an appointment.

Which ultrasounds do we perform?

  • Abdominal: liver, gallbladder and stones, pancreas, spleen, kidneys and aorta.
  • Pelvic: uterus, ovaries and bladder, through the abdomen or transvaginal depending on the case.
  • Pregnancy: confirmation, gestational age, heartbeat and growth follow-up.
  • Thyroid and neck: nodules and gland size.
  • Soft tissue: skin lumps, abscesses, hernias and lymph nodes.
  • Kidney and urinary tract: stones, obstruction, repeated infections.

If your case requires a specialized study, such as an echocardiogram or vascular Doppler, we tell you and refer you.

How do I prepare?

  • Abdominal: fast six to eight hours to see the gallbladder well; water only.
  • Pelvic through the abdomen and early pregnancy: full bladder; drink about four glasses of water an hour before and do not urinate.
  • Transvaginal: empty bladder.
  • Thyroid, soft tissue and kidney: no preparation.

Bring previous studies and the order if you come from another provider.

What is the study like?

  1. Gel is applied to the area and the probe is moved over it; you may feel light pressure.
  2. The study takes 15 to 30 minutes depending on the region.
  3. The provider reviews the images with you and hands you the report.
  4. If something needs follow-up, the next step is defined the same day.

When is an ultrasound advisable?

Persistent abdominal or pelvic pain, irregular bleeding, suspected gallbladder or kidney stones, pregnancy confirmation, a lump in the neck or skin, or monitoring of a known condition.

Is it safe during pregnancy?

Yes. Ultrasound uses no radiation and is the study of choice during pregnancy, both to confirm it and to follow the baby's growth. It is performed when it provides medical information; keepsake-only ultrasounds without indication are not recommended.

Who performs and interprets the study?

The ultrasound is performed by trained clinic staff and the provider interprets the images in the same visit, relating them to your symptoms and lab work. When a finding requires a specialist, we hand you the images and the report to take along.

How much does it cost?

Each type of ultrasound has a direct price, no insurance, in cash or by card. Confirm on WhatsApp at (346) 646-2974 for the study you need.

Fast six to eight hours, water only, so the gallbladder is full and there is little intestinal gas. Take your medications as usual and tell us if you have diabetes so we schedule it early.
