Contraceptive Methods

Contraception visit in Pasadena, TX: judgment-free guidance, start of pills or the injection at the clinic, follow-up and side effects. Walk in.

Choosing a contraceptive method is a personal decision that deserves clear, judgment-free information. At Clínica Hispana Corazón y Vida in Pasadena we review your health and your plans, explain the options and can start the pill or the injection at the clinic, with follow-up in Spanish and no appointment.

What does the contraception visit include?

  • Health history, blood pressure and weight, to rule out methods that are not advisable.
  • Explanation of the options: pills, injection, patch, ring, implant, intrauterine device, condoms and natural methods.
  • Start of birth control pills or the quarterly injection at the clinic.
  • Guidance and referral for long-acting methods placed at another center.
  • Emergency contraception with guidance on its use.
  • Follow-up visit to review side effects and adjust the method.

Which method is right for me?

It depends on your health, whether you smoke, your age, whether you have children or plan to soon, and how much you want to deal with the method every day. At the visit we compare effectiveness, frequency of use, effects on your period and reversibility, and the decision is yours.

When does it start protecting?

Pills started within the first five days of the period protect from day one; if started at another time, use condoms for seven days. The injection protects from day one if given within the first seven days of the cycle. We explain the specifics for your method.

Which side effects are normal?

Irregular bleeding in the first months, breast tenderness or mood changes usually improve over time. Severe chest or leg pain, an intense headache with vision changes or trouble breathing are not normal: go to the emergency room.

What is the visit like?

  1. A private conversation about your plans and history.
  2. Vital signs and, if needed, a pregnancy test.
  3. Choice of method and start at the clinic when it is the pill or the injection.
  4. Date of the next injection or follow-up.

What about emergency contraception?

The emergency pill works better the sooner it is taken, ideally within the first 24 hours and up to 72 or 120 hours depending on the type. It does not replace a regular method or protect against infections; if you need it more than once, it is better to choose a regular method at the visit.

How much does it cost?

The visit and the method have a direct price, no insurance, in cash or by card. Confirm on WhatsApp at (346) 646-2974.

Where and when?
