Men's Health: Checkup and PSA Test

Men's health checkup in Pasadena, TX: blood pressure, glucose, cholesterol, PSA test and urinary symptoms, with results explained in Spanish.

Many men in Pasadena go years without a visit because they "don't feel anything." High blood pressure, diabetes, cholesterol and prostate problems advance silently and are found with a simple checkup. At Clínica Hispana Corazón y Vida we do it without an appointment and in Spanish, with the lab in the same place.

What does the men's checkup include?

  • History, blood pressure, weight, waist and pulse.
  • Blood tests: glucose, A1c, lipid profile, kidney and liver.
  • Prostate-specific antigen (PSA) test according to age and risk.
  • Evaluation of urinary symptoms: weak stream, getting up at night, urgency.
  • Hormone profile when fatigue, low desire or mood changes justify it.
  • Sexually transmitted infection tests when appropriate.
  • Review of sleep, mood, alcohol and tobacco.
  • EKG when there are cardiac risk factors.

At what age should I start?

  • From 20: blood pressure every one to two years and cholesterol every four to six years, sooner with excess weight or family history.
  • From 35 to 40: glucose and lipid profile more often.
  • Between 55 and 69: decide with the provider whether PSA is right for you; from 40 to 45 with a family history of prostate cancer.
  • At any age: with urinary symptoms, testicular pain, blood in the urine or unexplained weight changes.

What does the PSA result mean?

PSA is a prostate protein that rises with benign growth, infection and also with cancer. An elevated value does not confirm cancer: it is repeated, related to age and prostate size and, if it persists, referred to a urologist. Avoid sex and intense exercise in the 48 hours before the test.

What is the visit like?

  1. A private consultation about symptoms, habits and history.
  2. Vital signs and blood draw at the clinic.
  3. Results explained with you, with treatment or referral if needed.
  4. Date of the next check based on the findings.

Come fasting 8 to 12 hours if you want glucose and lipids included in the same visit.

Which habits weigh the most?

Smoking, alcohol beyond two drinks a day, a waist over 40 inches, less than 150 minutes of physical activity per week and sleeping under six hours raise the risk of heart disease and diabetes more than any single number. At the visit we review them without judgment and set one or two realistic changes.

How much does it cost?

The visit and each test have a direct price, no insurance, in cash or by card. Confirm on WhatsApp at (346) 646-2974.

Frequently Asked Questions

Only if you want glucose and the lipid profile included in the same visit: 8 to 12 hours without food, water allowed. PSA, kidney, liver and the hormone profile do not require fasting.

Not necessarily. PSA also rises with benign prostate growth, infection or recent exercise. It is repeated and weighed against your age; if it stays high, you are referred to a urologist.

Yes. You can request a specific test, such as PSA or glucose, and know its price beforehand. The provider will tell you whether adding another one makes sense based on your symptoms or history.
