Flu and Tetanus (Tdap) Vaccines

Flu vaccine and tetanus booster (Td or Tdap) in Pasadena, TX, given without an appointment by medical staff, with a record for work or school.

Two vaccines prevent most visits for severe flu and contaminated wounds: the flu shot every season and the tetanus booster every ten years. At Clínica Hispana Corazón y Vida in Pasadena we give them without an appointment, in Spanish, and hand you the record you need for work, school or paperwork.

Which vaccines do we give?

  • Influenza (flu): one dose every season, from six months of age. The season in Texas runs from October to March; the ideal time is September or October.
  • Tetanus and diphtheria (Td) or tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis (Tdap): a booster every ten years, or sooner after a dirty wound if more than five years have passed. Tdap is recommended once in adulthood and in every pregnancy.
  • Other adult vaccines, such as hepatitis or MMR, are given as part of the immigration exam; ask about availability for other cases.

Who should get the flu vaccine?

Everyone from six months of age, and especially people over 65, pregnant women, people with diabetes, asthma, heart or kidney disease, and those who care for babies or older adults. It is an inactivated vaccine: it does not cause the flu.

When do I need the tetanus booster?

If you do not remember your last dose, if ten years have passed, or if you have a wound with dirt, rust or a bite and your last booster was more than five years ago. At the clinic we check the wound and give the dose in the same visit.

What is the visit like?

  1. A brief review: allergies, current fever, pregnancy and previous vaccines.
  2. Injection in the arm by medical staff.
  3. A few minutes of observation and delivery of the written record.
  4. A reminder for the next dose.

Bring your vaccination record if you have it; if not, we start a new one.

Which effects are normal?

Pain or redness in the arm, mild tiredness or a low-grade fever for one or two days. A severe allergic reaction is very rare; that is why you stay a few minutes at the clinic after the shot.

Can I get both vaccines the same day?

Yes. The flu vaccine and the tetanus booster are given in the same visit, in different arms, without reducing effectiveness. During pregnancy both are indicated: the flu shot in any trimester and Tdap between weeks 27 and 36 to protect the baby.

How much does it cost?

Each vaccine has a direct price, no insurance, in cash or by card. Confirm on WhatsApp at (346) 646-2974. Getting vaccinated without medical insurance is also possible.
